The following section contains tips for viewing Martex web sites.

Latest Web Browsers

We recommend using the latest version of Netscape Navigator (currently 4.7) or Microsoft Internet Explorer (currently 5). Earlier versions of these browsers do not fully support the latest technologies. You may choose to maximise your viewing area on your browser window by closing superfluous navigation bars, such as the Personal bar, and by setting your browser's fonts to default.

The latest browsers from AOL-Netscape and Microsoft enable you to see our sites as they were designed to be viewed. For some sites you may also require plugins (see below).

You can download the latest browser by clicking on either of the Netscape or Microsoft logos below.

Browser Plugins

Some Martex sites require the Shockwave Flash plugin from Macromedia in order to operate; download it by clicking the icon below.



We also use technology from Real and QuickTime to show streaming video - click the icon below to download Real's latest plugins.



Once you have the plugins you can run an InstallWizard (usually this will happen automatically) or click on the setup.exe file.

Enable JavaScript

Many of our sites require JavaScript to be enabled. In Navigator, select Options, Network Preferences and click the checkboxes to enable Java and JavaScript. In Internet Explorer select Edit, Preferences and click the check box to enable Java and JavaScript. Earlier browsers may not support JavaScript.

Your Computer

Screen Size: Our sites are designed to be seen at 800x600 resolution. If you have the facility to change your monitor size it will be in your Windows Control Panel. In Windows 95, 98, NT or 2000, select Display and Settings and move the slider to 800x600.

Colour Resolution: Again on the Control Panel you will find a pull-down menu of resolution options. Select 16-bit colour from this. Note that monitors set to 256 colours may not see certain images in the correct colours.

Fonts: If you have increased the size of your fonts this will impact on web you view. We recommend you restore your font size to default or medium; this is a function that can only be determined by you and over which we have no control.
